You are so special, and your life always had purpose. You stuck to your goals, your course in life, and I guess you had reached the finish line. But those around you we are desirous poppy we want more. Tell me one more story poppy, be an inspiration to me one last time. Tell me poppy how I am going to succeed in life, and please share your smile with me one last time. On your death bed poppy they tell me you still possessed these qualities. Poppy I love you, how can I not see you any more. How can I not e-mail you tomorrow. How can I stop my email to you forever more. Paint me one more picture poppy, if you are going to go away. Stern

As a typical news-hungry Israeli, I wake with the news and go to sleep with the news. I've got my phone programmed to beep when something happens and I can't walk past a newsstand without taking a long glance at the headlines. But more and more, the ostrich that lives deep inside all of us is calling to me. Can't I just ignore this latest warning of impending terrorist attacks? Just this once, do I need to know what America plans for Iraq? Which road was attacked with stones? How many mortars were launched against Israeli towns and villages?

I find that the ostrich manages to sleep for long periods, even days at a time, though that is rare. We've developed a very good relationship, that ostrich and I. In bad times, it leaves me alone to listen obsessively to the news, check the Internet and know within minutes of every major newsworthy event in a 1000 mile radius. Then the ostrich will demand its due, and I'll get an evening in a restaurant in which I will not think about the next person to enter, nor worry if the guard really checked that man's bag carefully.

The ostrich and I have developed a good relationship over the last two years and that is why I suddenly find myself quite perturbed to find that the ostrich has not been happy. The ostrich is demanding more time away from the news, just as things seem to be getting more serious. More threats from the Palestinians, Iraq getting more defiant and Bush getting more insistent. This morning, before I thought the ostrich was even awake, I read that the Education Ministry in Israel is planning to teach a civil defense program in the schools. Psychologists and police will visit the schools to teach my children what to do during a terrorist attack. I don't want my children to know this; I want to scream out loud. And suddenly realize that it isn't my voice, it is the ostrich in me.

As I think about the ostrich, I realize that this is not the first time it has decided to completely take over. Only a month or so ago, the first real mutiny occurred. My 17 year-old daughter took an advanced course with the Magen David Adom to learn how to set up and work a medical staging area for multiple victims of a terrorist attack. Following an intensive four days, parents were invited to a "Conclusion Ceremony" in which we watched approximately 100 teenagers simulate the moments after a terrorist attack. The ostrich didn't want to go at all, but how could I not go? We packed up some clean clothes, some soda and cake, some apples and more, and drove to Netanya, where the course was being held.

Overlooking the beauty of the Mediterranean, sitting on plastic chairs after being served light refreshments, the ambulance siren wailed and rushed to the center of the grassy patch before us. "Many wounded, bring everyone," said the first ambulance driver who arrived on the "scene." I was only glad that I didn't have to see and hear and smell the actual attack that was supposed to have preceded this exercise, but the ostrich was not satisfied. Better to look out over to the blue sea and the green trees, the ostrich urged me.

Don't look, don't listen, don't imagine. More sirens and now the field resembled an ambulance parking lot. The doors flung open, and groups of teenagers began unloading boxes and meticulously setting them up in rows. Each ambulance crew was ready to treat ten patients before they even started carrying in the wounded. We could hear how many were wounded and their conditions being broadcast back to some imaginary command station. More stretchers and the ostrich was in tears, frantic to get away from the images that only it could see. "Isn't it enough when it's real?" it cried with silent, invisible tears. Do we have to imagine it when it hasn't even happened?

The wounded were more teenagers who put their hearts and souls into the act. Arms waving, bodies shaking, stretchers moving quickly. One boy almost fell off, and the others laughed. For me, this was as real and as close to the aftermath of a terrorist attack as I ever want to get. For my daughter and the others, this was a chance to prove that they could act quickly and knew what to do. This would assure that they function first and react later if and when the real attack comes. They wrapped wounds that did not exist, taped infusion lines with gusto. They calmed the victims and tried not to have too much fun and I stood there staring at them as the ostrich asked why we have to train 16 and 17 year olds to deal with this.

I don't want to be here, I thought at the time, and the ostrich understood and agreed. I want to be high in the sky, like the hang glider that circled above, obviously curious about the strange scene below. Now you see why the sand is so appealing, sympathized the ostrich. Then go put your head back in the sand, I almost whispered back. Stop imaging that this is real, I told myself repeatedly.

Then the exercise was over and my daughter concentrated on what dirty laundry she wanted me to take home and what fruit and cakes I had brought her to help her survive the last 24 hours of the course. The ostrich went back to sleep; my daughter passed her test with flying colors.

I fear that this relationship seems to be getting worse, with the ostrich demanding more attention, more time, more oblivion. It would never leave this country. It is a product of all that is good and all that is bad here, and I know that when it takes its head out of the sand long enough, it loves this country so very much. But I also wonder who will find peace first? Israel and the Palestinians, or the ostrich and me?

Aaron

• Why are all my posts doubled??!! Damn school!

In other news I'm in charge of keeping the house in one piece for the next week....

---- the computer just crashed I lost all the rest of my post nooooooooo-------

Any way I'm tired and currently have no energy to write it all again..

so I wont!!!

good night!

I leave u all with a procedure in Pascal that I wrote I wrote a lot about it in my original post but no!!!! It was deleted!!!

< text> Procedure three_arr (A:arr_1; N: integer; B:arr_2; M:integer; Var C:Arr_2 o:integer);
{ the procedure receives the arrays A and B and arranges them in a third array B from the smallest number to the largest number. Hanacha: array A and B are arranged in ascending numerical order. A is N cells big. B is M cells big. And both A And B are bigger then one cell}

Var
I,J,K: Integer;

{ Begin

I:=1; j:=1; k:=1;

Repeat

If A[I] <> B[J] Then do { as long as Arr_1[I] is not equal to Arr_2[j]}
Begin
If A[I]< i="N" j="M;" i="n" j="M;" j="M" i="N;"

</Text>

-----Damn can't put it up it reads it as html then gives me an error-----

href="http://www.bludman.blogspot.com/">brothers blog butr what can i do you are always welcome to leave and read his at anytime. I will start my post by requestiong forgiveness for not posting much since school started. I haven't had even a moment to do anything else except for school (and a little sleep). My school scheduele is as follows sunday- i learn till 6 monday- i learn till 6 tuesday- I learn till 8 wednesday- i learn till 6 thursday- i learn till 4 friday- i learn till 12:30... sorry i needed to complain a little ( I am jewish after all). Well as you can see my scheduele leaves me with absolutely no days to do a shift. I will blame this on David (my school principle) who didnt let me finish english last year (if he would have i would be able to do a shift on mondays as i have english in the afteroons). but he didn't so i have no idea what i am going to do. I finally made a big purchase on a book or almost did. I ordered

any way I'm sorry for this terrible post hopefully tommorow i will have a chance to write another one.

Aaron

I realized today that I have not written a post for a little while now. I lost my whole post that I had written last night about my day at Mda yesterday. It included testimonies about a CPR that I did, a bad COPD patient, and an 8 year old girl who had epileptic seizures. But what can I do the computer decides what it will keep, and what will be sent to the black hole of my computer. But I have a back up of half of it so tomorrow after school yes I did say that terrible S word, I will work on getting it up.

Any way as you may have seen at the top of the page is google ads... These ads are very useful to you, so please look at the ads. They also generate revenue. And a portion of my revenues go to charity. SO CHECK OUT MY SPONSORS

So today I had school. Urrgghh I hate school. I have a new Rabbi. Rabbi Ami Cohen... So far my opininon from the three hour he has been with us is that he seems ok. He is very young though. He has potential though, we shall see.

I am sort of pissed at the school today though. This morning started with Rav Beni the rosh Yeshiva ranting about gush Katif, and they made a whole political "ceremony" for the morning of gush Katif. I have nothing against Gush Katif I'm actually even kinda pro Gush Katif but politics have no place in a school!!! If I had the Kehunas I would go to the newspaper. I even took some still pictures of rabbis with orange ribbons on their wrists, on their bags and even one dangling a ribbon in their pocket. I will maybe load those tomorrow onto the blog.
I will add this to my list of things to get after the yeshiva for, like I am going to make sure that the Yeshiva doesn't break the law by not teaching about AID's during the National AID's day.

What ever I can never do anything with this, because you see I need the Yeshiva. My letters of recommendations will come from the Yeshiva, meaning I must suck up.

Any way I must be getting to bed as it is past writing curfew set by mom, and tomorrow I have that hideous S word.

any way good night to you all, and I will try to keep my chest cracking stories till tomorrow when I can write them again.

Aaron

So I lied. But not really
I said I'd write at night and its night although a day later. I had to stick with my after 12 blog theme LOL.

Anyway yesterday.......

The beach party was cancelled not enough people. Damn that I worked hard helping out and calling people. Hey a lot of people worked harder to try and make it succeed its a pity it didn't work out. But it seems like a lot of MDA stuff end up like that. Cancelled. If I were actually in charge of it I probably would of closed the last day to RSVP earlier so we could know if it was going to take place before the last minute. But I wasn't so it was cancelled last minute

Ok so random question before I go back to my ranting about my day..... How are cheese strings made??? How are they stringy I mean? I tried to google it but so far I have found no answer. It must be a trade secret. The secret of how the cheese string is cheesy.

oh speaking of google you will notice in the next few days that I will be getting google ads on my blog... Please check them out (they pay the quote unquote bills)..

So if we are already talking about google Gmail is down... Already for about an hour that's annoying...

But back to my day today and yesterday. So yesterday lets see if I can remember. Oh yeah we went to install the handsfree for moms phone. They didn't have the handsfree in stock that means we will have to go back again when they are more organized and they have ordered the part. That's annoying.

So I studied more of one of my MDA books yesterday I have officially finished the whole anemneza part. I don't know if that's an English word it sounds pretty English to me... If not then I've finished the patient interview (and physical exam) part. Now on to the cardiology and the ECG section. I pretty much know a three lead ECG interpretation or atleast the basic rhythms but when I look at a 12 lead I'm just confused. Any way the author of the book is actually alone Basker, and I know his parents \. More like mom knows his parents. They are good friends of mom. Mrs. Basker used to be in the doll house club with mom , and they became friendly. We were at their place to eat?? I think. Then they moved to Netanya though I think. But the point is I've met Alons parents. I officially own three books by him. I guess I can add him to my cool people list.
At night I had MDA visitors at home who ended up staying like two hours, but they were great.
wow there is no post I don't mention MDA. I'm obsessed

Ok this post is kinda sucking tonight I guess it is because I'm pretty tired, and yes I'm up in 5 hours. Hey that's already a normal amount of sleep. And tomorrow is last day of summer vacation before going back to school.

School is going to be a nightmare. Even worse than last year. I learn till 6 every day! No exceptions. But it must be paying off seeing I got my Bagrut scores all above 90's except for Hebrew language which was ok but I think ill do it again.

I was at pixel this morning. So That gave me some money, and then I watched the aprentace read talked to friends etc. I'm kind of PO though I wanted to bring my receipt for pixel so I could get paid they owe me 1,500 nis but then I discovered that we had no computer to print it off on. Its currently being fixed it has some kind of funky problem.

Any way guys you have to leave some comments other wise the only one I know who is reading my blog is Dad. Go dad you rock!

There are only a few reasons why you wouldn't leave a message.
1.) you don't know how. Explanation----->you go into 0 comments or 1,2,3,4 comments etc depending on how popular I become, and go to add comments (write dad for extra help)
2.) you are shy and don't think you are worthy of writing. Write trust me you are worthy
3.) No one except for Dad is actually reading my blog ( again go dad you rock)

Any way its already one that makes it 4 and a half hours till I have to wake up.

so good night, good evening and good morning to you all.

Aaron

ps tomorrow you will all hear about my morning shift at MDA the Shiva (Seven days of intense mourning following the burial of a close relation. During this period all ordinary work is prohibited) call to the ambassador.

Good night all.

I'm telling you guys, I'm almost liking bloging so much that I want to add posts when I don't have anything to tell you.

Does it really matter? How many people read my blog any way???

But just a quick plan of what the day should consist of:

1.) waking up (yes I did wake up. Early at that... The phone and noisy neighbor's helped with that)

2.) checking email etc.
--------------------------------> I am here
3.) getting dressed

4.) going out to get hands free for moms phone

5.) going to domino pizza and beg for 5 cheap piazzas for our MDA event tonight ( I will get there be patient)

6.) Maybe going to station and making sure money is all collected.
----> suggested time to be at 7 is 4pm
7.) going to hertziliyah to the beach where there will be beach party. (yes you may ask what a beach party is I will get to that)
8.) come home
9.) edit blog (why did I have to start a damn blog any way)
9) go to bed cause I have work early tomorrow morning (pixel)
10.) Then yes I know I said I'd be maybe stay awake work on business and talk to friends.

* beach MDA party is going to be cool probably. Pizza, Games, shirts, etc.
more to come.

Oh by the way I deserve a congrats on my first post written before midnight. Maybe I should change the post time till after midnight so I don't break the pattern. Aah I think I will do that

Real time: 10:40

official post time 3 in the morning. hehehehhee its good to show you all that whatever I want to happen on this blog I can make happen.

see you all,
Aaton

Home Sweat home

After 16 hours at MDA it is nice to be home and be able to take my shoes off. But it was all in all a great day.

where shall I start in tonight's post? I shall start from the beginning I guess. The very beginning. I woke up at 5:30 left the house at 6 and caught the 6:15 bus. I arrived at 6:30 expecting to do an MICU shift but eventually I learned differently.

why I didn't do MICU shift:

1.) Driver -1 spot

2.) Paramedic -1spot

3.) paramedic student was there -1 spot

4.) Daniel Elbo, one of my friends who recently moved from Hertziliyah had arranged to volunteer with the paramedic. -1 spot

Now me I am in an authority position and probably I could of kicked Elbo off, but I like Daniel were friends, so I could of rotated call call with Daniel but lets face it, Its ALS we usually have two calls a shift what's the point of doing call call?! Plus Mishel was there; Now I like Mishel he is a nice driver, and more important Mishel kfells over me. So the second he saw me in the station his first words were are you here to do a shift with me. What am I going to say? No!? I just don't have the heart (you may substitute heart for any other organ) to say no.

So I did a shift with Mishel. It worked out great.

So what did I miss on the MICU today you may ask

1.) CPR (assystole)

2.) Heart attack

3.) heart attack

4.) arrithmias

don't remember what else......

What did we have....

wow I don't really remember

1.) chest pains (MI)

2.) We took some body back to their sanitarium.

3.) I really don't remember any of the other calls.

I think my brain kicks out unimportant calls in order to make room for other information.

So all in all not a bad first 8 hours.

Second shift:

I had to instruct so naturally instead of the two I was supposed to coach 4 came instead. What ever they took rotations it worked out ok.

The driver: So boaz was supposed to do a shift on the BLS today. Boaz kicks ass he really does. He is the chief paramedic in Kfar Saba, and it is definitely a title he deserves. But last managed boaz had to move to Ramat Hasharon's atan because they had no paramedic leaving volunteer drivers to have to fill in the gap.

the first volunteer from 3-5:30ish was ok. He seemed un sure in his self nothing to worry about I took care of everything.

We had one call with him. An Arab lady at Cayon Arim fell on the escalator split open her foot. I but pressure dressing and fixed the "deadly trauma".... A few stitches and she"LOL b back to normal.

Then after That Yair Shilo came. He was cool not really anything with him. But we went to get Pizza with him. So that was good. So I ate. So I didn't starve on my 16 hour shift.

To tired to write any more. I'm sorry if parts of tonight's post don't make sense fatigue is a great thing.

Aaron

As blogs are becomming more and more popular who am I not to rejoin this trend. You see I use the word rejoin because I once had a blog. I think i even made a few posts on it, But that was before blogs were popular. I also made the mistake of chosing a name for my blog that i couldn't possibly remember.
So to conclude the downfall of blog number 1 came came because of two reasons: 1.) It just wasn't trendy when i started my blog 2.)I chose a stupid name for my blog.

Stay tuned during the year as blog #2 as I will call it for the moment will fill up with meaningless posts about my life, MDA= my life, school and yes my first expiriences with the army.

I have chosen an easy Url (this time) to remember www.Aludman.blogspot.com following in the footsteps of my brother who owns www.Bludman.blogspot.com

Now to the first post.

Tommorow will be an adventure why you may ask... Tommorow I shall do a double shift... a double shift you may ask... yes 8x2=16 yes 16 hours of the sick the old and the injured. I shall wake up in a mere 3 hours and 15 minutes and do 8 hours on the MICU (ALS) and then another 8 hours as an instructor on the white. (BLS)... I have been in MDA for over a year yet i have never been stupid enough untill today to go ahead and do a double shift... Aaah you can only learn from your mistakes. And i think working a 16 hour shift on 3 hours and 15 minutes of sleep is probably one of those mistakes, so with that I bid you farewell, and good night, and i officially cut the red ribbon on blog number two.

I hope you enjoy my life as much as I do.

Aaron Ludman
